Daily Post: A Year Ago in the Life of my Dime

Today’s Daily Post prompt asks us to

Dig through your couch cushions, your purse, or the floor of your car and look at the year printed on the first coin you find. What were you doing that year?

Well, I just dug into my pocket and found two dimes. The first one  I looked at had 2014 as the date.

Last year…

Well… last year was a different year, a year of transition, of anticipation as my oldest son faced graduation from High School followed by his first year of college. The financial burden for paying for college, familiar to many, weighed heavily on my wife and I.

A phone call in April made college possible because he received a very coveted scholarship that took that weighty burden off of him and us. My wife and I had to keep it a secret for 24 hours before he was publicly presented with scholarship! We are very thankful and grateful for that award.

Now we celebrate with him a very good first year of college so far.
