Another great daily prompt from Krista at WordPress! Thanks Krista!
Here is the prompt:
If you could learn a trade — say carpentry, electrical work, roofing, landscaping, plumbing, flooring, drywall — you name it — what skill(s) would you love to have in your back pocket? could learn a trade — say carpentry, electrical work, roofing, landscaping, plumbing, flooring, drywall — you name it — what skill(s) would you love to have in your back pocket?
There are two trades that I would learn. Well, I would re-learn one of them.
The first trade I would learn is truck driving.
It is in great demand here in the states and it would be a great way to see the country. I would do long distance routes and would love to do the ones that go west.
The trade that I would re-learn is that of painter.
Twenty-five years ago I began to learn the art of professional painting. Not being a painter as in a picture painter but in painting homes, apartments, large tanks, and even barns. A friend of mine owned a small painting business and having left one job and needing another, I started working for and with him. The most memorable job we had, and the last one I work on, was painting a large barn in central Michigan in late October. The owner of the property also raised Angora goats and with the wind swirling around the barn, the over-spray mist gave all the goats a spotted appearance!
Trades are important and the need for skill tradespeople is very great!
So if I had a hammer? It would be covered in paint!
