Friday Fictioneers: A Bend in the River

It is time again for Friday Fictioneers, a wonderful and weekly Flash Fiction event of around 100 words. A photo prompt is the match which lights the creative flame in a group of people that I have grown to enjoy and respect! Thanks again Rochelle Wisoff-Fields!

Here is my contribution to this week’s prompt! Enjoy and feedback welcomed!

As Jack and Joan walked along the familiar and currently damp fence path both were engaged in flashback thinking of 30 years. His courting and his marriage proposal were foremost in their silent exchange.

He thought about the kids learning to ride horseback. She thought about the pleasant shock and joy of her first pregnancy.

Both stopped as if on a silent cue and paused looking up and down the river.

“There is a bend in the river coming up,” she thought.

Well, it’s time to head to the doctor’s office and hear the results,” he said.

    1. Thanks TIffany !
There are those bends in the river. Had one with my mom this past year. But I can still open the door to her place and see her with book in her hands and a smile on her face!
