“That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! “Peace be with you,” he said. As he spoke, he showed them the wounds in his hands and his side. They were filled with joy when they saw the Lord! Again he said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.” Then he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone’s sins, they are forgiven. If you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.” (NLT)
Father, our fears cause us to lock ourselves away from Your presence and Your power that You so much want us to have. We have financial fears, commitment fears, work fears, even fears about faith.
Breath on us Your Holy Spirit all over again this day. And help us to open ourselves up to that holy breath and allow it to penetrate the walls of our hearts and souls so that we find the inner freshness and freedom You gave us from the cross and the grave so long ago. And so then help us to unlock the door of our hearts and truly let You in.
Thank you for the freedom You have made possible for us through the work of Your one and only Son, Jesus Christ.
