The priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the LORD stopped in the middle of the Jordan and stood on dry ground, while all Israel passed by until the whole nation had completed the crossing on dry ground. Joshua 3:17 (NIV)

Father

I was reminded yesterday through this verse and via the insightful and inspired words of a pastoral colleague, that sometimes we have to simply “stand in the middle…

… for a while.”

And I needed to hear those words

Lord help me

and help others

stand in the middles of our lives and wait upon You!

It gets hard

and weary

and frustrating

to stand in the middle and wait and wait and wait.

So Good and Gracious Father

We ask for You to ‘stand in the middle’ with us

and help us to wait with and upon You

as we navigate, with wet feet

and sometimes dry souls

those middles that are vital to starting and ending well.

Amen
