In the Hour of Anguish and Desolation

Father God,

I have been reminded today about the desolate places of life and one’s tribes or communities.

I think of families who are desolated because of addiction

I think of people who are desolated because of unemployment

I think of children and teens who are desolated because of absentee or non-existent parents

And yet Father, you promised that

“there will be heard once more the sounds of joy and laughter. The joyful voices of bridegrooms and brides will be heard again, along with the joyous songs of people bringing thanksgiving offerings to the Lord. They will sing,
‘Give thanks to the Lord of Heaven’s Armies,
for the Lord is good.
His faithful love endures forever!’”
Jeremiah 33:11 (NIV)

And we believe this Lord!

We have seen it happen in families, in people, in children and parents, young and old, rich and poor

And because of what we remember and believe happened one Passover season

The laughter and the joy

The celebration and the party

And Your Joy, our strength!

Comes again to our desolate places

and our desolate hearts.

Amen and Amen!
