A Prayer for the Unemployed

Father, on this Labor Day Friday, we come to you on behalf of the unemployed.

Some of us, including me, who read this prayer understand what it is like to stand in an unemployment line.

We know the feelings of anger, fear, shame, frustration, and uncertainty that such a time brings.

Lord God, we ask that you will touch their hearts with your love, even through us, so that they know You have not turned Your back on them.

Provide for their needs of this day, today.

Do not let the anger of fear cause pain and suffering in their families and hearts.

We ask O God for a stronger economic recovery that will spread throughout our nation and thus provide work for those needing it.

And while we pray for those without work, we also take time to be thankful for the work that we do have, no matter how frustrating it gets.

Let us honor you with our work so that Christ may be seen in us.
